Dear Brahms collaborators,

Enclosed please find a (first) draft for the BRAHMS 'white paper' on GQP at RHIC - to be discussed on tuesday at the collaboration meeting.

Please note that the small editorial comittee that we had appointed has not yet had a chance to comment, so you can with good conscience limit yourselves to blaming ME for all that you undoubtedly will find is wrong, missing misleading and incomplete!

This is indeed a first draft. Much remains to be done in terms of improving the text, sharpening the arguments, deciding on a conclusion, including proper references and selecting the most representative set of figures.

On Tuesday we have set aside a fair amount of time to discuss this document. I do not plan to go through a lengthy presentation of the document. Rather I think that we should discuss the overall philosophy and then proceed to discussiong the main points and figures in each subsection and at the end see if we can formulate a conclusion.

This requires however that you have read the document carefully before tuesday morning in Oslo.

I will be happy to receive comments right away, although not much more will happen until tuesday.

In particular, I would like to request input for missing figures from the following people (I don't have suitable .EPS versions here):

Michael: Figure(s) showing chemical model fits to BRAHMS data vs rapidity.

JH and EJK: Figure illustrating blastwave analysis

Ramiro: the figures that went into the CGC paper

Steve: the figures that went into the lates d?Au mult. paper.

Dieter: suitable figures to illustrate the identified high pt- suppression.

Djamel: the figures that went into the meson paper.

Peter: the latest figures that went into the stopping paper.

regards
JJ
