Dear collaborator, As you should have seen on the forwarded e-mail from the scheduling physicist, DOE has approved the extra week of running. This implies that the plan B is in effect i.e. the 200 GeV running will end on Wed. 24 at 8.am with a ~2 day setup period and a 7 day physics run ending on Friday April 2 at 8.am. Shifts should thus be scheduled through that period, and our run plans be made accordingly Even though there is no officical and agreed upon physics running during the pp run there may or may not be a possiblity for some data taking towards the end of the setup period. So far I (we) have taken the position we will NOT be prepare for such opportunity because a) The directive from T.Kirk was this was for 5 weeks beam development b) no definite plan/probability of having beams delivered has been put forth and c) several detectors would have to be put in in the 2-3 ay access weekend -work that may be just wasted should be appear. The question is if we should attempt to make a minimal setup e.g installing the INL counters; this could allow for measuring either some of the missing high-rapidity reference spectra, and/or some initial transvserse pol. measuerements. I woul very much like to have a collaboration discussion on this in the next week or so. regards Felmming ---------------------------------------------------------------- Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov phone: 631-344-4106 _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l@lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Wed Mar 10 21:10:46 2004
