Dear Colleague,
let me update you on the run status. As I told you earlier the Nucler Physics budget for BNL is reduced by `0.6% in the recently approved omnibus bill. This implies that this years RHIC run will have to be shortene by ~2 weeks.
The position of various experiments are being made clear; at today's coordination meeting both STAR and PHENIX announched their position to maintain the 5 weeks of pp commisioning. As the ALD (aka Tom Kirk) holds the same position In all likelyhood this implies the Au-Au run will end on or maybe a few days later than March 24. No exp. expect from STAR has expressed any wish to go to a lower energy in this run, so my best estimate is that the run until end of March will be Au-Au at 200 GeV. This will certainly allow us to complete the proposed exp for this year and possible more. At present we have started collecting high statistics at 4 deg both A/B polarity and will do this for about 2M triggers at the higher field seetings, that should allow us to get Rcp in Au-Au at the highest rapidities so far for h+/h- and pi+/- at a minimum, as well as leaving ample time for a long measurement at ~8 deg for high pt.

best regards
    Flemming
