Store Dumping Policies

As of 2/4/2004 the policy outlined in the following paragraphs have been adapted. Note the time-rule of 4.5 hours; this is made to optimize the turn around time between stores.

Our general policy is to vote for dump when the ZDC rates are ~700/sec. So far this has happened after ~3.5-4 hours when the initial intensities are in the 3,500-4,000 ZDC/c range.

(1) 4:15hrs into a store MCR will issue "Prepare do dump" via BERT, if the injectors are ready.

(2) If the injectors are not ready, a screen message will be posted, announcing the delay in the store dump (and an estimate for the delay if available).

(3) Experiments can still vote down stores earlier, with 2 out of 4 votes.

(4) If 3 out of 4 experiments would like to extend the store, we will extend the store (this is the same voting rule as above). If you want to extend a store, MAKE THIS KNOWN TO MCR VIA PHONE. Currently we consider this an exceptional condition. Should this happen too often, we will implement a mechanism via BERT.
