Even though significant progress have been made towards the startup of the run, we seem to be plagued by new problems. a) After the last access on Dec 22 it turns out we have lost communication with the BFS HV controls for DC and RICH, and have thus made no progress on this front. b) minor problems still exsist with a few channels on H1 (HV issue), and on the FS trigger counters. Progress: i) The beam quality looks much better as of last night; it seems that the bunch (gap) claning proceure produced significant background in our IR. ZDC rates were ~600 still ~1/2 what one could really hope for, and as indicate in the notes from the scheduling physicist w/o the RF rebucketing. ii) All the detectors in MRS, and FFS are up and running Todo: Monday access i) Identify problem with BFS L1458B (RAS) ii) Fix the H1 bottom 32,33 ((HV card?) (RAS) iii) Return the one si-wafer that was removed for problem identification (HI) iv) Ensure all system are working before close-out, so we are not hit be new problems. With beam: I) Setup FS and MRS triggers ii) checkout (in)/effeciency. Once this is done we can start physics data taking.. A preliminary shift schedule is posted on the operators web page for the startup an first physics running. There is still some uncertainty how much time the RHIC op needs during daytime for beam improvements. regards Flemming ---------------------------------------------------------------- Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov phone: 631-344-4106 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov phone: 631-344-4106 _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l@lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Fri Dec 26 19:04:25 2003
