Hi, just a brief update with the enclose msg from sche phys. Real progress has been made; Rhic was back with a store this night , albeit the luminosity still seems low by our standard. Flemming " Hey, it's late but this time it's good news (just in case you suspected something else ;)): after some more tune corrections during the ramp, polarization at store with rotators on was measured to be 37% in Yellow and 36% in Blue with 55x55 beams (low intensity, 12*10^11 per ring) :). Excellent work of todays shift crews! PHENIX is steered for colllisions and a local polarization measurement is in progress as we speak (cross fingers it's not radial ;)). We'll keep working on improving transmission up the ramp. Good luck! Angelika (& Adam) PHENIX reported longitudinal polarization for blue and yellow with an about 30% vertical component in yellow (likely due to partial yellow snake). Sign is not known yet. Polarization experts are investigating (well, at this point I suppose this means more scratching heads ;)) if we can find a way to compensate." -- Flemming Videbaek Brookhaven National Laboratory Physics Department tlf 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov
