With A.Drees as the interim scheduling physicist I actually get some frequent information I can forward to you. The essence is the same as the minutes from this morning 8.30 meeting, but with a slightly ifferent angle. regards Flemming " Hey there, (I know, I know, you'll say: tell me something new ;)) yesterday the rotator ramp was tuned such that 6x6 beams had very good transmission (talking intensity, not polarization) :). However, during the night we had problems with 55x55 beam survival in the earlier beta-squeeze part of the ramp already. Today the spin tune in yellow was moved by about 0.01-.02 giving more room for tune swings without polarization loss during the ramp. So far we got up to 20% (yellow) and 40% (blue) polarization with 6x6 beams and rotators on (compared to almost 40% in blue and 32% in yellow with 55x55 and the wrong rotator polarity last Friday). At this point we are working on maintaining polarization up the first part of the ramp (enegy & squeeze) with 55x55 beams (well, and then of course during the rotator ramp ;)). The source maintenance is planned to happen 'behind' any RHIC store, preferrably one started Thursday early morning to profit from the 3-4 h access. At this point it is not planned to prolong the access for it. Due to the tight schedule there will be no access to any other machine but RHIC. Enjoy the spring weather (if you can) :) Angelika -- Flemming Videbaek Brookhaven National Laboratory Physics Department tlf 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov
