Dear Coll, I am forwaring the most recent message regarding the pp-run startup. The plan is to deliver some kind of beam soon, and progress has been made through the day. Flemming -- Flemming Videbaek Brookhaven National Laboratory Physics Department tlf 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov Hi, last night recommissioning of the rotator ramp was not successful by midnight and over night we were trying to tune collisions without rotators to no avail :(. This morning we continued our commissioning effort which is still going on. We will not try to collide without the rotators on but continue to work on the ramp until we have reasonable beam transmission and polarization. At this point, polarization is preserved for the first part of the ramp (ramp&squeeze) but lost in yellow during the rotator part. Blue beam does not survive rotator ramp so far. Beam experiments were postponed until next week and maintenance by one day to Thu, 8:00 am to 11:00 am, allowing 1 hour for sweeps. Most experimental areas will be on Restricted Access. During the access we'll do ice-ball search and swap the polarity for the STAR rotators. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody at the time-meeting tomorrow :). Angelika (& Adam)
