Warning to a LSF user who can not let a LSF job run without constant monitoring by "bjobs" or "qstart".
attached mail follows:
It has come to my attention that a number of users have been running scripts that issue repeated "bjobs" or "qstat" queries in order to monitor the progress of their jobs in the LSF batch queues. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM THIS PRACTICE. These queries create a load on the LSF master host and can slow down the system for everybody. Normal usage of these commands is fine, but repeated heavy usage in a script is not. It is also unnecessary since most of our queues employ a fairshare scheduling algorithm anyway. If this practice continues, I will have to take further steps to control it. Your cooperation on this matter is highly appreciated.
