Hi Zhongbao I think it is very important that we try to understand the RICH in much greater details since this is in principle the BRAHMS diamond:) I guess what your simulation indicates is that muons will show up as pions in the RICH if they decay after D4 because the muon momentum is lower than the pion momentum. My suggestion would be to formulate clearly what you want to learn by your study first. Then I would continue what you have already done by finding out what fraction of muons decays between D4 and RICH as a function of momentum i.e. how significant is this. If it is significant then you have to define a pion PID cut and see what fraction we identify. To learn more you probably have to make some simple digitization ala BrGeantToTpcTrackCandidate and some Rich digitization, where you might get some code from Djamel who started writing BrDigC1 at some point. Then you can study what happens if it decays before D3, D2...., and you can see if the tracks are matched in the global tracking and if the ring is found by the RICH algorithm (the pointing of the muon and pion might be off) and maybe learn something about the RICH algorithm eff in general (for single and multi tracks). Just some suggestions Peter On Wed, 12 Mar 2003 yin.zhongbao@fi.uib.no wrote: > Hi, > there is a simple simulation study to show the effect of pion decay on > RICH ring, see in case you are interested > > http://www.fi.uib.no/~yin/brahms/pionDecay/pionDecay.html > > Any idea and suggestion are welcome. > > Best regards, > Zhongbao > ----------------------------------------------------- > Zhongbao YIN Phone: +47-55-582792 (O) > Address: +47-55-276803 (H) > Fantoftveien 14G 466 E-mail: > 5075 Bergen Yin.Zhongbao@fi.uib.no > ------------------------------------------------------ > > -- :-) --------------------------- )-: Peter H L Christiansen @ NBI EMAIL : pchristi@nbi.dk OFFICE : Tb1@NBI (353 25269) HOME : Frimestervej 22, 1. tv PHONE : 35824930/40840492 :-D --------------------------- \-:
