    | Below is Barry Holstein's announcement of this summer's Gordon
    | Conference in Nuclear Physics. As you know, this series has
    | historically been one of the premier venues for examining what's
    | happening at the leading edges of the field, with a select group of
    | current leaders and active younger researchers. This summer should be
    | no different, and I would appreciate it if you would bring this
    | announcement to the attention of your collaborators.
    |
    | Many Thanks,
    |
    | Tom Ludlam

    | NUCLEAR PHYSICS GORDON CONFERENCE
    | July 20-25, 2003
    | Waterville, Maine
    |
    | The nuclear physics Gordon Conference will take place July 20-25 at
    | Colby College in Waterville, Maine. We have put together a
    | broad program with what I think are an outstanding group of
    | speakers---take a look at
    |
    | http://www.grc.org/programs/2003/nucphys.htm
    |
    | which covers many of the ``hot'' areas in the
    | field. As always with Gordon Conferences, the talks take place in the
    | morning and evening, leaving the afternoons free for interactions.
    | There will also be a wine and cheese poster session on Tuesday
    | afternoon.
    |
    | There exists money to support conference fees/room and board for
    | young physicists/students/postdocs to attend the meeting. Those
    | interested in obtaining such support should contact me at
    |
    | holstein@physics.umass.edu
    |
    | Of course, the dollars are limited and will be handed out on a
    | first come/first serve basis.
    |
    | One more thing---the nuclear physics Gordon Conference has been in
    | existence for many years and over time attendance has fallen a bit, so
    | that this year we are under the gun to turn out the troops in order to
    | guarantee continued support from the GRC people. So please consider
    | attending or sending your students/postdocs. Registration can be done
    | on line at
    |
    | http://www.grc.org/attend.htm
    |
    | Hope to see you in Maine---(note that the lobster this year will be
    | especially fresh!)
