The following is the note from schedl phys. and I guess the outcome of this afternoon's
coordination meeting. This means that for the next 24-36 hours lum will be lower, but we should be prepared to start
taking data when the machine people declare some success - possible late this evening/night. Cetainly by tomorrow I would
hope we are back in some kind of production mode.

    Regards

    | Hi,
    | We emerged from the 46 hour maintenece period with some problems which require
    | machine people's full and undivided attention for a while. We will go into the
    | weekend in a recovery mode, in an attempt to get to a stable condition in which
    | background related issues can be studied (Todd thinks we can be there tonight).
    | we plan to run under this condition with low intensity (to ensure the background
    | is tolerable) for about 24 hours. This will allow the experiments to take dome data
    | while the machine people record data needed to make better calls on background reduction,
    | and get some rest. After that we will decide whether to work on backgrounds during the
    | physics program, or do it in a dedicated mode.
    | Have a good weekend!
