I think most of us get the information from the major US papers. As long as congress is in session an discussing this it is likely as good as source as any other. FYI I enclose the statements made by the 'acting lab director Peter Paul in the Monday Memo circulate electronicaly to all BNL employees. I cite "The last few weeks have been a nail-biting time for those who watch the federal budget process. DOE and, therefore, Brookhaven, is still operating under a continuing resolution, which forces us to work under the FY02 budget. This is particularly hard for RHIC, which was not generously funded last year, but is expecting a boost in operating funding in the FY03 President's budget. Last week the Senate passed an Omnibus Appropriations Bill which, fortunately, still contains this funding boost. Now the House and Senate bills need to be reconciled. If this does not happen within two weeks, RHIC may have to at least interrupt its research program for this fiscal year. It's not yet clear what will happen, but RHIC users are alerting everyone of the traumatic consequences for their research if RHIC has to stop "cold."
