The previous message contained an incomplete draft. Here's the real stuff. ---------------------------- Dear friends, I regret that I will not be present at the upcoming collaboration meeting, Ian Bearden will be the sole representative from NBI this time. I would like, however, to raise some questions and issues that I hope will be discussed in depth at the collaboration meeting: 1. How to ensure a coherent and organized reduction (incl. calibrations) of the data from the coming run? There is a need for a central coordination of this effort and active and concrete participation of all groups. 2. How to ensure an efficient and widespread analysis effort, also with participation from all groups. I feel that also here we need a tighter coordination effort so that we utilize the BRAHMS manpower ressources optimally. Groups should define areas of interest within their capabilities, but in such a way that also more mundane tasks , e.g. simulation jobs etc. are covered. 3. Discussion of run plan. I hope that the collab. meeting will come up with a detailed and concrete recommendation for run plan that can be discussed by the collaboration up to the start of the experiment. 4. Manning of the coming run. I hope that the collab. meeting can produce a first list that shows the coverage of the necessary shifts by representatives of the various groups, so that we may iterate on this. The matter is urgent due both to ticket reservation considerations and due to access restrictions to BNL. 5. Planning of the physics run 2004. In particular items related to detector upgrades and ALICE detectors. I wish you all happy discussions JJ ____________________________________________________________ Jens Jørgen Gaardhøje, Assoc.
