Hi everybody, yesterdays beam studies were finished in time and the RHIC access started at 13:00. The last area sweeps were done between 18:00-19:00 (pretty close to schedule ;)). The access time was followed by AGS-AtR-RHIC matching and RF trouble shooting. We had a store in from after midnight until this morning. Intensities were not exciting but the experiments voted for keeping it anyway. Today was devoted to injection tuning, polarimeter timing, 200 MHz conditioning/commissioning and some PLL work in the background. At this point we are at 200 MHz conditioning and we hope that we'll be done in about 2 h when we'll try a ramp. If things go well we'll try it with tune feedback as well. In case we succeed, we would keep the store, otherwise a few more ramps might be needed. We'll go into production mode before midnight in any case. Hopefully the 200 MHz will be on from the next store on. Cross fingers! Tomorrow during the day we'll have more ramps with feedback on in both rings. In case things go well, we'll keep using it over the weekend and gain confidence since tune feedback is desired for a beta squeeze in IR8. We'll discuss this in the monday meeting as well as beam study time (12 h next wednesday?) and the next scheduled accesses. I'll keep you posted. Westinghouse looks very promising, a few more brushes were replaced yesterday. I'll let you know when we need the next maintenance. The RHIC polarimeter has been worked on during the day since we had inconsistent results over the last days. We'll see how it looks like with the next store with polarized beams. Have a nice weekend, -- \|/ Angelika (.~.) o0(_)0o ----------------------------------------------------------- Angelika Drees (Collider-Accelerator Department, AP group) BNL, Building 911b-210 work: (631) 344 2348 FAX: (631) 344 5954 home: (631) 474 3884
