The access period was extended by 2 h (from the original plan of 3 h) to repair the Westinghouse rheostat and finish the work on the snake heaters. The access was followed by various problems (cryo, abort kicker ...) and there was no beam before midnight. Early this morning the polarized source failed and is currently being repaired. We expect it back online within the next hour. At this point Anatoli is still working to set it up. Today we tried another ramp with tune feedback on in blue: with success :) !. We are planing one more ramp with feedback in both rings later this afternoon (15:??). We'll keep the beam for collisions in case we bring both beams up there with reasonable intensities. The plan for the weekend is to provide collisions with polarized beam(s) while trying to improve intensity and yellow polarization (by applying only minor changes ;) ). Yellow polarization is still relatively high at injection but almost 0% at store whereas blue drops by less than a factor 0.5. Here is the tentative plan for the next days: date time activity ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sat Dec 29 1h CONTROLLED access for PHENIX and STAR, to be confirmed/scheduled ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thu Jan 03 8:00-14:00 beam studies, to be confirmed ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thu Jan 03 15:00-17:00 Westinghouse maintenance, PP2PP 1st set silicon installation to be confirmed In case you have any questions about the current situation/plan, please don't hesitate to call MCR. Have a nice weekend! -- \|/ Angelika (.~.) o0(_)0o ----------------------------------------------------------- Angelika Drees (Collider-Accelerator Department, AP group) BNL, Building 911b-210 work: (631) 344 2348 FAX: (631) 344 5954 home: (631) 474 3884
