FYI another weekend to enjoy w/o worring about rhic collisions Flemming ------------------------------------------------------ Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory tlf: 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov ----- Original Message ----- From: Angelika Drees Sent: Friday, December 07, 2001 4:32 PM Subject: weekend plans Hi everybody, Todays access lasted until about 13:00 (not too bad for a friday considering some sweeps were blown ;) )but was followed by a Westinghouse controls problem and a booster extraction kicker problem. There was no beam in RHIC before 15:00. The plan for the weekend is as follows: - work on ramping - work on AGS polarisation in parallel - get polarisation measurement @ injection in RHIC - collide with 55x55 @ injection over night - shoot for collisions @ storage early next week Since Dec. 05, when we got the p^ source back, polarisation measurements at AGS extraction energies did not result in consistent numbers. Transverse emittance could be reduced and is work in progress. Behind a RHIC "store" the spin crew plans to repeat polarisation measurements at lower Gy values in the AGS. Westinghouse maintenance period can be extended to next thursday. Therefore we plan another (4-5 h) ring access (restricted for experiments) next thursday 9:00-14:00 (tentative). At this point I'm aware of requests from BRAHMS and STAR for a few hour accesses. Please let me know if you plan to go in as well. Have a nice weekend, Angelika ----------------------------------------------------------- http://www.cadops.bnl.gov/AP/RHIC2001/SchedPhys/index.html -- \|/ Angelika (.~.) o0(_)0o ----------------------------------------------------------- Angelika Drees (Collider-Accelerator Department, AP group) BNL, Building 911b-210 work: (631) 344 2348 FAX: (631) 344 5954 home: (631) 474 3884
