Hi JH, This was a change I had intended to make in the draft sent out over the weekend-- but apparently didn't. But to clarify, we DO use the tile results in the total multiplicity determination and, consequently, on the selection of centrality. We have no choice because of the problem with the LeCroy PTQ's at low amplitude--the si data is not reliable for single-MIP response for near-normal incident particles. What we could do is tack on a sentence at the end of the paragraph describing the MA: "While both the SiMA and TMA are used in the reaction centrality selection, as discussed below, the pseudorapity dependence of the charged particle densities is obtained using only the more highly segmented SiMA." ..or something like this...
