As you may have followed, the last week at RHIC has been very productive ~ 75 hours uptime of accelerator. We have also made good progress toward the high-lurminosity goal. As of this afternoon about 3.6M trigger 6 for 12 deg and 2.9 at 90 deg. Even with this high statistics, the prospect for high pt at 12 deg is interesting, but marginal. The run 5924 was analyzed to get the yield, and what is observed is that before PID we get ~ 5 counts/200 MeV/c at 3 GeV/c for 300 K trigger 6 (in FFS only) ie. 150 counts for the data collected and down by 1/10 at 4 GeV/c. The PID probably will take away 1/2. Thus adding the 4 deg is reasonable (almost complete at this time), and running the previously proposed 8 deg low field will not take away much from the high pt program. The later is expected to take about ~1 shift tomorrow.
