Hi there,
the STAR magnet repair went well :), they even made it out of their IR before time including the sweeps(!) and we had the machine back at 23:40 on tuesday. During this access we continued to work on the snake magnets in RHIC, PHENIX started working on the trigger board installation for the pp run and the pi 0 polarimeter people (12:00) could work on their local beam beam counters. The first RHIC fill was stored around 2:45 am followed by another store which was dumped by a cryo controls problem around 9:30 today. Pushing intensities we lost one ramp later and successfully filled RHIC again around 2:00 pm. Only 2 hours later it was lost due to a vacuum permit pull. We are currently at injection and trying to refill RHIC. The plan for this night is production. Tomorrow we have another 12 h of beam studies, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm including the beta* 3m injection studies, a prequisit to commission polarized protons in RHIC. From 6:00 pm tomorrow until monday next week we should have nothing but production fills :) . I'll inform you about any changes.
During the access time yesterday the carbon and fishline targets in the AGS could successfully be prepared and are now available for measurements. So far polarisation is seen at injection energies in the AGS but the data needs to be calibrated before a polarisation level can be quoted. This work is currently in progress.
