Subject: thursday & friday this week

    Hi everybody,
because of the problems over night and this morning with ongoing QLI's this day was spent on power supply work. Since there were no beam studies today we have to reschedule it.

At this point we had one successful ramp (without beam of course) and the power supply folks want to have 2 more ramps before they turn the machine over to us. Current estimate is 5:30 pm. We will try to get the machine back into production mode as fast as we can after this and then run thru the nigth until tomorrow (10/25) morning. Power supplies permitting we'll start to work on transition/ramps at 8:00 am tomorrow and - if necessary - continue throughout the day. This work is a pre-requisit for any increase of beam intensity. We then hopefully have production stores over the night with the changes we worked out during the day.

Friday morning we have to do some work on the AGS main power supply (Westinghouse) and repair the motor brakes. This cannot be postponed until Nov. 8. It takes approx. 4 hours and should start no later than 9:00 am - pending a RHIC store. At the same time work on the AGS RF can be done (~ 1 h) which should fit into this timeslot including loto/cool down (for this area less cool down is required).

    Have a nice evening,
