Folks, something broke NFS between pii3 and at least some of the other pii's- new files were getting created with size 0 or with corrupt content. I do not know what caused this (did ITD do any work around our counting house?), but I made a temporary fix by forcing all pii3:/home mounts use "rsize=1024,wsize=1024" option. This seems to fix the symptoms, at the price of degraded performance. Unfortunately the Internet is also acting up (BNL's internet connection was down for the last 10-30 minutes, and flaky before that), so I cannot do more testing. If somebody has any more info on this (symptoms, etc), please let me know. There is a limited probability that the problem is caused on pii3'end (fat chance!), so if there is anybody in the counting house tomorrow, please contact me (olchansk@bnl.gov) so we can try to reboot pii3. -- Konstantin Olchanski olchansk@panix.com
