    Date: Mon Jul 3 16:28:19 2000, Shift: 08:00-16:00
    Supervisor: FV, with: PC, FJ,
    Log book#2 pages 122 - 125

    Shift Summary:
    ------------------------------------------------------------
Machine up til about 1.30 at what point RHIC needed biref access to fix
a thermistor readout problem. AT about 15.30 they were back online.

    Two main activities:
    -
Looking additionally at timing with ZDC BB triggers only.
Checks and aDjustmenets were made for TOFw., H1 and H2 tdc gates.
Check spectra in future runs comapre with H1,H2 plots in trigger book II
    page 9.

    -
Trying to understand why so few sequences and no tracks was seen
    in T2.
    - All Hv was checked and operational.
    - Visual inspection ( FV,FJ) concluded the following behaviour.
       a) In cases where there should have been tracks in T2 (based on 0 field
and good direction no-one was seen except for a small number where
tracks appeared. This were always at timebins <=20-25
        b) No noise, signal clusters were seen above time >=25

    - There is clearly a problem that has to be investigated further. This
    requires an access. Possible causes
-- miscabling to ground or gating grid plane
-- Gas problem in T2 only.

-- T1 sees good tracks in collisions events.

    Several shorter runs was taken
    i.e. 1597,1598 & 1601,1604.
1597 field at 1/6 maximum field in order to gain acceptance near the
expected mean pt. The 1/4 field has acceptance form about
    .6 to .85 in pt.

D2 was turned to 0 from 1598 on in order to identify straigt throughs between
    T1 and T2.
