There has been a number of incidences of brahms cas machines dying over the last couple of weeks. It is believed to be due to a bug in 'kswapd' introduced in the latest upgrade of the OS. At the same time the brahms machines were the first to be upgraded and did not have a memory leak fix to the afs client fixed. It is not believed the two things together makes it worse. RCF had been waiting to fix both at the same time, but after talking to Tom Throwe this morning we agree that if/when machines go down the afs fix will be applied, and then later when the get the kernel fix for the OS all RCF machines will be upgraded. regards Flemming -------------------------------------------- Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Bldg 510-D Brookhaven National Laboratory Upton, NY11973 phone: 631-344-4106 cell: 631-681-1596 fax: 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek @ bnl gov _______________________________________________ Brahms-dev-l mailing list Brahms-dev-l_at_lists.bnl.gov https://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-dev-lReceived on Wed Oct 24 2007 - 09:26:59 EDT
