Hi Flemming, I am not sure I understand the following I tried to check my disk quota just in case ====================================== tigist_at_rcas0034:~> du -s -h 3.5G . tigist_at_rcas0034:~> quota -u *** WARNING: DISPLAYING LOCAL QUOTAS ONLY *** For documentation on querying RCF NFS quotas, please refer to: http://www.rhic.bnl.gov/RCF/UserInfo/Facilities/NFSService/Monitoring/Quotas/ Disk quotas for user tigist (uid 8143): none tigist_at_rcas0034:~> ls > test.txt ls: write error: Disk quota exceeded tigist_at_rcas0034:~> ======================================= The .Xauthoruty is written every time I log onto the racs machines. The file cannot be written if Disk quota is exceeded. But I am not sure if I am exceeding my limit. I thought the limit is 5G. Do you have any idea? How do you connect ? ssh -Y name@ .. ? Do you remember the kinit on the gateway ? I have no problem logging to RCF. Unfortunately my user name at RCF and the one at KU are not the same. As a result I am having a problem using X11 applications like XEMACS due to X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication. I submitted a ticket to RCF to resolve this issue on Monday, but it does not seem that I would get a reply from them soon. I amy not have anything to present for tomorrow if I could not get things to work by noon today.
