Well

This is /was a highly abnormal case. Apparently both the output disk where
the gtr was wrritten to, was full
, and possibly the bramreco account had run out of userdisk (quota) since
there was several large ~500Mb core dump files.
A rerun of that same file onto a fresh disk worked just fine .
