Hello,
This is to announce that mysql, root and brat were installed on the new
Scientific Linux test machine, rplay26. Some installation notes:
1. The mysql we use for all of the other machines (3.23.something) would
not compile. So I downloaded mysql-4.0.21 and it compiled just fine.
It is installed in pro.
2. Once mysql was installed, root v4.00.08a installed just fine
3. brat was no problem whatsoever.
4. I tried to install crash, but it needs brag.
5. I tried to install brag, but it complained at the link stage about
the rfio stuff which was moved to libshift.a. As I did not find a
libshift.a, brag, and hence crash. did not get compiled. I looked in
the README file which saved Steve one time, but unlike Steve, I did not
find any useful information. Or at least I was unable to intrepret the
information in a way that made it useful to me.

I have not tested this other than to see if things start up as well as
to see if mysql can connect to our database through it's command interface.

I think it is ready to test. Let me know if there are any problems. As
far as the absence of brag/crash, I hope the brag/libshift.a experts can
try to solve that. Once that is done I do not see a problem with
installing crash.

Kris
