I guess this is not so revolutionary, since this is what we have done.  
In fact, the
script we use checks to make sure that the data type is "PEDESTAL" .
I can not, of course, guarantee that all calibrations from previous 
runs were done properly,
but if they were not it was a mistake and not something we plan on 
doing or think is proper.
