thanks for your quick reply.

a) I agree we shoul try to keep a disk, where 'users' can have their
semi-pewrmanent files. I recall
a discussion about two year back when the new disk system came online that
one could setup some
of these disk with a user quota system (~ 20-40 G perhaps).

b) Beware that none of these disk are backed up. I got worried when reading
the word program
an writing my thesis.

c) I will talk to Claus while at BNL how to organize this cleanup, and
reorg. I particular in regard to
official (final) data files from the run-2 /run-1 auau (which should also be
archived).
