While analyzing dA and p-p data at full field we found that the projection of FS tracks back to the beam line has a mean value of -10 cm at full field. A possible explanation for this effect could be that we are using the wrong values for the field in D1 or D2. Dana, together with a CAD tech. used a Hall probe calibrated against a NMR probe to do several measurements that show deviations of as much as 5% at the highest field. The results of those measurements, and a comparison to the values we use for the analysis, are placed in: http://www.sdcc.bnl.gov/brahms/private/detectors/magnets/ UpdateOnMagnets.htm It looks like the deviation is the same for D1 and D2, and because the same probe was used to measure the excitation curves of all the other magnets, we have enough information to find the right field to use during data analysis. One can also say that the probe I used for my measurements starts to deviate around 11Kgauss (D4 is the least affected) Ramiro _______________________________________________ Brahms-dev-l mailing list Brahms-dev-l@lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-dev-lReceived on Wed Dec 31 16:12:12 2003
