FYI Today I complained about an extrodinary slugginess in afs , something I have seen recently in other cases two. To let you know what is going on - and it will improve soon I enclose the answer to the ticket request. Flemming rafs10, the machine hosting the brahms cvs repository was experiencing a heavy load between 11 and 12 noon today. rafs10 has shown heavy load conditions several times in the past few weeks and we are now in the process of installing new afs servers in order to reduce the load. Unfortunately, the installation of the new servers has been delayed by problems we have experienced with the Emulex FC cards. The good news is that sometime early next week I'll be able to bring a new server on line which works properly with an IBM FC card. When that happens, I'll start moving filesystems out from rafs10 to the new server, thus reducing the load. Meanwhile, I'll try to see if some of the file systems can be moved to less loaded servers. ------------------------------------------------------ Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory tlf: 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov
