    Ah, but they were, and for two reason: 
    
    1: When we converted to BRAT2, I thought it best to leave in, since I
       didn't know if they were used.  That's the simple deadpan reason.
    
    2: When you do a "make dist", the resulting tar-ball should contain
       everything you need - hence also auxillary files like mrs.geo and
       mrs.mag.  Therefor, the files in question was in the EXTRA_DIST
       variable in the test/Makefile.am.  EXTRA_DIST is a way to tell the
       build system: "This file isn't used in the build process, but you
       need to keep it because it's used."  The slightly more serious
       reason.
