    Hi all,

As some of you may remember, we had this odd problem here at NBI, that
we couldn't read back files created by BrEventIO. Now, I found a
work-around as you probably saw. However, I did not presume to
understand the cause of the problem.

Now, I've corresponded with Rene Brun (The Man), and he found the
cause (along with some other problems too). The cause was in ROOT
(not BRAT - phew), and he has fixed things and it's in CVS. Many many
    thanks to Rene.

This means that we are now (after ROOT is updated and reinstalled)
free to choose the buffer size and split level we want. This also
means, that I'll update ROOT on the rcas soon (more when I actually do
it). Again, I'll update to the head of CVS (a new ROOT release will
not be until later this fall), and so we may see new and experimental
    stuff.

Oh, and I made some minor updates to BRAT today, but I'll send you
more tomorrow (it's getting late and I have put in my 21+ hours today
    :-)

    Yours,
