Dear colleagues and friends,
In the last few weeks our group focalized its activity in the following
directions:
- upgrading a computer to store and process the experimental data; in
present we have a computer with 90 GB hard-disk, 650 MHz frequency and 256
MB RAM;
- experimental data transfer from DLT to hard-disk; from the two DLTs sent
us by Dr.McBreen we have around 30 GB experimental data;
- run the experimental data for multiplicities; some preliminary results for
charged particle are obtained;
- simulations with HIJING and UrQMD codes; we done the analysis note 17 for
HIJING code predictions; a new analysis note for UrQMD predictions will be
available up to the middle of January; we sent few results
to Flemming (behaviour like saturation of the particle multiplicity on the
freeze out time, dependence of the pseudorapidity on the collision time);
connections with the collision geometry will be available in the future
using NEXUS code;
- an analysis of the particle detected by ZDCs using HIJING code has been
done; we sent few results to the TAMU group;
- we begun an analysis of the background created by the decay of some
particle using HIJING predictions(lambda, neutral pions etc); significant
increases for protons (around 13% at smaller impact parameters and around
10% a higher impact parameters) and neutrons (around 6.5%, respectively,
5%); we try to consider more particles (from the particles which appear in
the simulation) and to present soon a report/analysis note.
After Christmas and New Year we will begin the work for reconstruction.
The major difficulty for us is the very slow transfer rate to take some
programs from BRAT.
I would like to express, in my name and in the name of my colleagues (Calin
Besliu, Ion Sorin Zgura, Daniel Felea, Radu Zaharia, Dan Argintaru, Claudian
Grigorie, Florin Constantin) and our master students (Oana Culea, Oana Catu,
Catalin Ristea, Gabriel Taban), many successes in the new millennium that
will begin soon! MERYY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Sincerely yours,
Alexandru JIPA
