Ian, You need to do a klog. Versions of cvs prior to 1.10.7 have a bug in which an update tries to write to the history file. Dave Morrison of BNL found the bug and submitted it to gnu and as I understand, it is in cvs 1.10.7. Anyway, until you get that wherever you are working, you need to klog first, then do the update as you wanted. Kris "I. G.
