Here is the proposed T3 raw data format: 1) one data record per plane (total 30 planes = 30 records). 2) inside each plane, wires are numbered starting from wire 1. 3) for the "Y" planes, wire 1 is at the bottom, wire number increases with "Y" coordinate (positive wire spacing). 4) for "X", "U" and "V" planes, wire 1 is on the right side, wire number increases with "X" (positive wire spacing). In other words, wire "1" is on the inside side of the RHIC ring. Also note: - the most natural wire numbering for T3, T4 and T5 is with negative wire spacing (i.e. Y plane wires count from top to bottom). However the mapping of planes and wires to TDC channels is already so backwards (umm... sideways) that using positive wirespacing-numbering does not make things any more complicated as it already is. - this scheme does not work for T4 and T5 because the channels are multiplexed and while the final wiring scheme has not been done yet, it is expected that wires from different planes will be multiplexed into the same TDC channels, making it very interesting for unpacking and reconstruction. - the proposed scheme has been partially implemented for 1/3 of T3, where the mapping of the planes is done, but mapping of wires inside the planes has yet to be done as I have just received the drawing that contains the necessary information. -- Konstantin Olchanski Physics Department, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Long Island, New York olchansk@bnl.gov
