Subject: Rene Brun visit
Rene Brun will be visiting STAR BNL from Mon Nov 16 through Thurs Nov 19. The
topic list so far is
- STAR data model
- ROOT-based storage of events (entire, or select components of)
- ROOT/Objy integration and relative roles; hybrid Objy/ROOT persistent
data model
- ROOT-based production management
- STL and ROOT
- Parsing C++ header files using templates
- Using STL/templates in the CINT interpreter.
- ROOT-based event visualization
- ROOT on NT, approach and manpower
- schema evolution and self-describing data files in ROOT
- ROOT in STAR online topics (?)
- ROOT development and RHIC: how ROOT evolution and maintenance will be
managed; RHIC input to and contributions to the evolution of ROOT
(with the other experiments)
We will arrange dial-in for some sessions if there's interest (contact me).
We look forward to people from outside STAR joining us. If other experiments
want to grab Rene to focus on their experiment-specific issues please contact
me. With the topic list long and the visit short we want to limit the non-STAR
time to half a day.
Further topic suggestions welcome!
