As was annouched in a short message last week the time for the BRAHMS Collaboration Meeting in Krakow has been fixed on: ****************** April 16-17, 1998 ****************** A preliminary agenda will be made up during the coming month. It will depend partly on who will participate in the meeting. TThere are several decisions and commitments to be made for the coming year so this will be an important meeting and you are encouraged to participate. A half day (Likely Saturday morning, April 18, 1998) is intended to include a session devoted to physics issues. Its topics will cover a selected aspects of the ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. The meeting and accommodation will be held at Conference Center of the Jagiellonian University, ul. Jodlowa 13, 30-252 Krakow. The Center is located in a beautiful surroundings at ca 6 km distance from the Krakow center. Room rates: single - 90 zl, double/person - 50 zl. Room rates do not include meals. For its unique urban and architectural values the city is quite exceptional. Its Jagiellonian University was founded in 1364. Krakow has today a population of 800 000. In recent years hundreds of new pubs, cafes, jazz clubs and restaurants has opened in the old center of Krakow. There is a large number of flights from various European airports to Krakow airport and they provide the most convenient way to get to Krakow. From the Krakow airport you can reach your hotel by taxi (approximate price 25 -- 30 zloty). There are many exchange offices called "Kantor" open also on Saturdays and Sundays, where you can change money. Major credit cards are commonly accepted in most restaurants and gift shops; travel check and Eurocheques can be cashed in the PKO Bank (Eu-check also at some major Post Offices). You may have problems, however, to cash check on weekends, when the banks are closed. If you decide to come via Warsaw I give you some information concerning public transportation and train connections to Cracow. The most convenient connection between the Warsaw airport and the central train station is provided by the ** City--Airport ** bus service. The bus stop is right at the exit from the arrival hall on your right side. Get off at the ** Warszawa Centralna ** train station, which is just opposite to the Warsaw ** Marriot Hotel **. Alternatively you can take the regular city bus # 175 or taxis. There is a number of Express and Intercity trains from Warsaw to Krakow. Arrival at the ** Krakow Glowny ** railway station in 2 hrs. 35 min. If you wish to use city transportation you have to buy tickets in advance in newsstands called kiosk "Ruch". Price of one ticket is 1 zl; for express buses (signed with a red letter) 1.50 zl. You have to punch the ticket immediately after you get on a bus or on a tram.
