The following list is the spokesperson view of developments and progress within the last month. Not all activities are necessarily mentioned.
- The FE Hut and the counting house has been delivered to BNL, and the installation preparations has started.
- The water system mechanical assembly has been specified and is out for bids.
- The front forward platform design is progressing well, and components have been purchased.
- The D3 coil was completed, approved by AGS engineer, and has arrived at BNL.
- The C1 vessel was submitted to central shops, an estimate made, and actual production is about to start.
- Prototype time-of-flights slats for the Mid-Rapidity spectrometer were tested in beam at the AGS.
- The Drift Chamber prototype has been assembled (Krakow).
- Detailed layout and drawings for the multiplicity array have been made following the Multiplicity meeting at BNL in June. (Kansas).
- Drawings for the H2 mounting structures has been made, and fabrication to start at the NBI workshop. Simulations to optimize the H1 layout were started using the ROOT and BRAT software.(NBI)
- Final delivery of 120 FEE cards for the TPC was received from LBNL.
- The prototype TPC receiver board was fabricated, and populated. Testing of the board has started. The program to test the board by means of data transfer from the Rosebud VME module was adapted to our MVE2305 PowerPC processor.
- A mini-DAQ VME based system has become operational, and have been used for a systematic check of C1 phototubes in one of the HIRG laboratories.
- Development of the BRAT software is continuing with particular aim of having a package ready for track reconstruction and analysis for the RCF -RHIC Mock Data Challenge in September. Production running of simulated events using GBRAHMS is ongoing using the RCF facilities.
